On March 2017 and 2018, WFWP-Ukraine representatives took part in the Commission on Status of Women (CSW) in the United Nations, New York. CSW is the annual UN event that promotes gender equality and the empowerment of women.

Every year, representatives of Member States gather at United Nations Headquarters in New York in order to evaluate progress on women’s rights and formulate concrete steps to promote it worldwide.

In 2017 CSW was dedicated to the topic of “Women’s economic empowerment in the changing world of work.” WFWP-Ukraine delegation took part in the formal CSW program, meeting of NGO representatives with the United Nations Secretary-General Mr. António Guterres and in many of side and parallel events organized by the embassies, state foundations and respected international public organizations. The snowstorm Stella that paralyzed the commission work and all New York movement for one day just added its color to that deep and useful experience.

CSW-62 in March 2018 had “Challenges and opportunities in achieving gender equality and the empowerment of rural women and girls” as a priority theme. Except the CSW formal program in the United nations, our representative could take part in side and parallel events, like the NGO CSW Forum Rally. Rally was exciting outside event that celebrated the successes of the international women’s movement in their fight to end poverty and violence against women. The rally was one of the 440 events prepared by NGO CSW for two weeks of the commission program.
